We have several exciting opportunities for Assistant Project Manager and project coordinators to join Nuclear Waste Services!

Reporting directly to a Programme Manager or Project Manager, this is a key role within the Nuclear Waste Services supporting programme and project activities, focussing on delivery of project and programme artefacts to enable effective and efficient delivery.

You will play an important support role in the day-to-day delivery of the programme and the associated set of projects, providing presentation materials, document control support, meeting organisation and overall project and programme administration.

You will operate in liaison and interaction with all areas of the business. Participation at Programme and Project Boards, NWS and occasional Executive team meetings as required to support operational discussions. So, you must be comfortable in communicating at all levels.

In addition, tracking and monitoring the delivery of key project deliverables and actions in support of the project and programme managers to produce business cases, reports, progress updates and performance monitoring. The role will also lead specific tasks and initiatives and hold delegated duties on behalf of the Programme Manager or Project Manager.

This is a role that would suit someone looking to further or start their career in project management, as well as those that who wish to establish a role that will give you exposure to multiple areas of the business, working on a long-term programme.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Providing support to the development of programme and project materials, briefing packs, presentations, graphics, and other documents.
  • To provide support to the production of Programme & Project reports, presentations, and business cases and to tailor materials to the various audiences.
  • Production of high-quality visual materials to aid communication to key stakeholders. 
  • Act as Secretariat support including the production of agendas, coordination of papers and organising meetings. Ensuring appropriate actions are followed including upward cascade of decisions, actions, and issues.
  • Attend, facilitate and in some instances chair meetings, track actions and ensure all relevant information is available to be presented to other governance meetings to enable effective decision-making.
  • Support the project and programme managers in their roles co-ordinating the production of papers and presentation materials required by the various project and programme meetings.
  • Manage and track the key requirements, targets, outcomes, and benefits on behalf of the Programme / Project Manager.  
  • Support projects by leading tasks and/or discrete packages.
Experience Required

Essential

  • Demonstrable administration skills, ability to plan & possession of strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in collaborating across functional and organisational by building relationships with various stakeholders and senior people.
  • Driven to work within a busy environment; the ability to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadlines.
  • Have good communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and colleagues; verbal and written. (essential)
  • Be a team player and work alongside all other members of staff.

Desirable

  • Proven experience in providing project support and the delivery of small projects
  • Experience in using Microsoft office suite to produce visually impactful material including PowerPoint, Adobe and Visio
  • Relevant programme and project management qualifications
  • Degree qualified in a science or engineering subject.
  • Nuclear or Infrastructure Sector experience.
