Job Description

Nuclear Waste Services has 2 x vacancies for Environmental Assessment Managers to join its busy team, flexible working across the NWS Estate. This role requires you to travel regularly between our GDF communities which are currently sited in Cumbria and Lincolnshire.

As part of this role, you will support the team in conducting environmental assessments, data collection exercises, and fieldwork activities. This job plays a vital role in monitoring and analysing environmental data to ensure compliance with regulations and to support sustainable practices.
 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in collecting and analysing data related to Environmental Impact Assessment and sustainability initiatives.  This may involve managing field surveys or collation of environmental samples, performing data entry, and using software tools to analyse and interpret data.
  • Report Preparation: Contribute to the preparation of environmental assessment reports, sustainability reports and other technical documents.  Assist in organising and presenting data, preparing figures and tables, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of information.
  • Research and Literature Review: Conduct research and literature reviews on environmental topics, regulations and best practices.  Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and advancements in environmental impact assessment and sustainability to support the team’s work.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to the team in various tasks, such as data management, documentation, preparation of plans and figures, risk management, and coordination of project activities.  Assist in maintaining project files, organising data repositories, and ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture.   Support colleagues in their tasks and projects, share knowledge and ideas and actively participate in team meetings and discussions.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, policies and guidelines.   
Experience Required
  • Batchelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field, or working towards completion of a degree qualification.  Recent graduates, and university placement students are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interest in environmental impact assessment and sustainability practices.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and principles, preferably with coursework in environmental science, ecology, or related disciplines.
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and interpretation using software tools such as Microsoft Excel or statistical analysis software.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate and reliable data management.
  • Proficiency in conducting research and literature reviews, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools and methodologies in the field of environmental assessment and sustainability.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
