Nuclear Waste Services has opportunity for a Group Waste Model Manager to join our busy team flexible working across the NWS estate.

As part of this role you will establish and enact effective strategic oversight of the Group Waste Model. Embedding the concept of enterprise modelling and decision making as a key enabler for the NDA group wide Integrated Waste Management Programme.

You will also develop consistent approach across the NDA group for waste assumptions, inventory data and strategic waste plans.  Develop the model into the single source of truth, managing risks and uncertainty. The role holder must be adaptable, with the ability to make educated and reasonable assumptions on sometimes incomplete data sets.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing the Group Waste Model and associated governance arrangements
  • Responsible for developing and managing the work scope for model development with the supply chain.
  • Responsible for managing the relationship with the supply chain provider and inventory data teams.
  • Responsible for developing and managing a set of Group wide Waste Assumptions
  • Critical thinker with problem solving skills and ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Develop and prepare strategic documents, technical briefs, position papers, option studies and technical analysis to support and provide underpinning information for strategic options
  • Provide system architectural oversight to any future strategic decision or modelling tools
  • Be broad scanning- monitoring technological advances, utilising latest data and drive standardised approaches.
Experience Required
  • Excellent data modelling skills
  • Experience in mathematical modelling (spreadsheet and/or software) and model verification techniques
  • Knowledge of nuclear waste inventories and technical areas
  • Delivers through strong relationships, builds collaboration and integration across the organisation.
  • Able to set and manage work scopes with a supply chain provider.
  • Experience of managing waste model development in a nuclear context
Qualifications Needed
  • Degree in scientific/mathematics/computer science or relevant discipline or equivalent work experience (essential)
  • MSc/PhD in scientific/mathematics/computer science or relevant discipline (desirable)
  • Chartership in scientific/computer science/mathematics or equivalent professional qualification (desirable) Excellent IT literacy and demonstrable experience in knowledge of modelling systems, inventory systems or managing and interpreting data.
