Nuclear Waste Services is looking for a Performance Improvement Technician to join our busy team across the UK.

The Performance Improvement Capability (part of the Nuclear Waste Services Transformation Programme) is looking for self-motivated, confident, creative, and positive individuals to join us in our mission to “make doing work easy” across Nuclear Waste Services. 

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic individual to provide can work across the team to support delivery of performance improvement, product development and performance data tasks, as well as providing organisational and administrative support for the team. If you are interested in learning about what the different parts of the Nuclear Waste Services business does and want to make a difference in helping us to make nuclear waste “safer, sooner” by making how we do work slick, quick and easy, this role could be for you.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Produce, with support from the wider team, and submit reports on behalf of the Performance Improvement Capability; to help the wider business and stakeholders maintain awareness of progress in the work the team delivers.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Performance Improvement Capability; to enable the team to deliver good quality and timely improvement interventions with the Nuclear Waste Services business.
  • Maintain the team communications and stakeholder engagement plan, liaising with the Stakeholder Relations team as required; to enable the wider Nuclear Waste Services business to keep up to date with the work delivered by the team.
  • Deliver support to performance improvement, product development and performance data management tasks as needed by the team; to enable improvements in how work is delivered by Nuclear Waste Services.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the performance improvement library; to enable the wider business to be capable and confident in delivering performance improvements. This may include: planning and prioritising aspects for development in conjunction with the wider team; reviewing and approving developed materials; undertaking research through targeted web searches and document reviews; and producing output documents. Development of the compendium activities or tasks may be self-performed or delivered using contractor resource; and so, work may involve supporting appropriate procurement of sub-contractor resource and the management of supply chain contractors engaged to support delivery.
Experience Required

Essential

  • Personal resilience, the ability to work under pressure on a range of competing challenges, self-motivation, and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Confidence and professionalism with good interpersonal skills, high standards and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate to people at different levels of the business.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT proficiency, including use of Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.

Desirable

  • Relevant qualifications (to A Level Standard) or proven track record showing relevant experience. Suitable work experience in lieu of qualifications or alternative qualification pathways may be considered where appropriate.
  • High level understanding of radioactive waste management practice in the UK and the NDA estate.
