Nuclear Waste Services has an exciting new opportunity for a P3O Practitioner to join their busy team in Cumbria.

As part of this role, you will manage the establishment and running of a satellite Portfolio / Programme / Project Office (P3O) as a decentralised extension of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), directly supporting the P3O Manager.

This role requires leadership and management skills, coupled with portfolio, programme, and portfolio management skills and experience, to ensure the integrity of the relevant projects, programmes and portfolios. The individual will need to develop and maintain relationships with the EPMO and a wide range of other Stakeholders across the business, and externally (supply chain / regulators for example) by delivering on commitments, managing expectations and ensuring that initiatives and improvements are embedded in a timely manner. This role will be Matrixed and integrated within the RACER Programme Team, reporting daily to the RACER Programme Manager. Line Management will be to the P30 Manager.

  • Act as deputy for the P3O Manager where necessary (including managing relevant meetings such as Portfolio / Programme / Project Boards)
  • Embed the necessary assurance and governance arrangements set from the EPMO to ensure the portfolio, and its programmes and projects, have suitable oversight of their performance and health including maintaining Integrated Approval and Assurance Plans as required.
  • Build and maintain a repository of good examples of portfolio, programme and project documentation, e.g. Project Initiation Documentation, Project Execution Plans and Stakeholder & Engagement Management Plans.
  • Manage the dependencies among the portfolio and its programmes and projects on behalf of the P3O Manager.
  • Managing issues, risks and change controls on elements of the portfolio on behalf of the P3O Manager.
  • Lead the development of gate review and sanction packs including change controls and support to Business Case preparation.
  • Maintain control of the scope / schedule / estimate on behalf of the Programme / Project manager to ensure changes are identified early and controlled in accordance with the relevant change management procedures – working alongside Project Control team members.
  • Delivering a service to the RACER Programme Team to ensure they have the necessary P3O support to successfully deliver their objectives including pipeline oversight of new and emerging initiatives within a portfolio, support to developing requirements and scope.
  • Provide a portfolio/ programme/ project support service through collaborative working and facilitating workshops on behalf of the P3O.
  • Reporting of portfolio, programme and project performance metrics on a monthly basis including providing updates to relevant meetings (such a Focus Meetings / Programme or Project Boards).
  • Promoting an open and learning culture across the P3O and interfaces with other functions across the enterprise.
