Job Description

We have a vacancy for a Racer Project Manager for asset care and enhancements to join its busy team, flexible working from our Repository site in Cumbria.

RACER ensures the Nuclear Waste Service site assets are renewed, refurbished, upgraded and improved where appropriate. Working closely with the Sites main stakeholders the Programme delivers Tasks and Projects ranging from £10k to £25 million and above. The Tasks and Projects could cover a wide range of complexity and can include study work through to signficant design packages and construction of new plant or building.

The Project Manager is the person in charge of the planning, execution and day-to-day management of a particular project in accordance with Nuclear Waste Service’s management arrangements.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Plan and design the project and proactively monitor its progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action and/or change control requests as appropriate.
  • Ensure proper planning and baseline management.
  • Manage the project budget.
  • Ensure the co-ordination and delivery of the project
  • Deliver all milestones, performance-based incentives (PBIs) and management targets as specified in the LTP.
  • Escalate risks (threats and opportunities), issues, actions and decisions to the Senior Project Manager as appropriate.
  • Initiate extra activities and interventions wherever gaps in the project are identified or issues arise.
  • Ensure the quality assurance, overall integrity and coherence of the project.
  • Report progress to the Senior Project Manager and other forums as required.
  • Owner of all project documents.
  • Safely manage the project team through proper and effective interface, integration, monitoring and reinforcement of the Company’s Standards and Expectations.
  • Foster good staff relations and high motivation within the project team.
  • Deputise for the Senior Project Manager, as and when required.
  • Abide by company’s Standards and Expectations.
  • Be aware of environmental responsibilities within role.
  • To act in a secure manner at all times, recognise potential consequences of personal behaviour and say if others fall short with respect to security
  • To consider ED&I in all conversations and interactions, ensuring you treat all individuals equally, respectfully and in line with LLWR’s ED&I principles
Qualifications Needed
  • Graduate (min 2:2) in relevant discipline or equivalent, possession of appropriate professional qualification, together with substantive (typically 10+ years) relevant experience.
  • Accredited to an appropriate professional body.
  • A proven track record in project delivery.
  • Capable of leading a medium risk, medium complexity project or low risk, low complexity programme.
  • Able to communicate clearly and present in a professional, articulate manner
