Job Description

Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Senior Technical Author flexible working with the System Engineering Team across the NWS estate.

As part of this role, you will prepare documentation to support the delivery of Engineering Projects and Environmental and Sustainability assessments for Nuclear Waste Services, the role will develop to manage a small team of Technical Authors.  The role will deliver a consistent approach to Management System documentation and technical authoring to support the Team.         

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Nuclear Waste Services Engineering Team and Environment & Sustainability Team to write and format technical information to support the Engineering Function
  • Produce procedures, guidance, and other relevant management system documentation and provide technical author support throughout the Engineering Function
  • Extract information from technical documentation, engineering standards and processes and turn this information into easily understood text
  • Meet with subject matter experts, intelligent customers to support the development of technical documentation
  • Collaboration with various technical teams to ensure the validity of technical documentation
  • Manage the publication of technical documentation to the appropriate platform
  • Maintain the live documents within the management system
  • Collate information for inclusion and publishing on the Engineering intranet page
  • Peer Review of Quality Plans
Experience Required

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Technical Author or similar within an engineering/technical function
  • Delivery of high-quality documents with an excellent level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written English skills including technical and procedural language typical in Engineering documentation
  • Appropriate Engineering or Technical qualification (HND/HNC minimum or equivalent)
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
