Job Description

Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Supply Chain Manager to join our Commercial team at Pelham House in Cumbria.

As a Supply Chain Manager, you will provide support to the Supply Chain Development Lead by managing discrete work packages related to all aspects of strategic engagement between NWS and its supply chain to ensure value for money.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead a proactive approach to supplier assessment in the areas of resilience, vulnerability, economic and financial standing, interfacing with wider NDA groups and processes where applicable, feeding back best practice into the wider Commercial function.
  • Promote the NWS approach to assessing, monitoring and managing critical suppliers. Ensure accurate information is maintained and communicated to both internal and external stakeholders as applicable.
  • Continually assess the risk of supplier failure on business and operations.
  • Maintain internal and external stakeholder engagement for input into these emerging policy and risk areas and subsequent assessments and regular reports to stakeholders (e.g. to NDA Group Commercial). Represent NWS at external forums where necessary.
  • Undertake monitoring and Financial and Economic Standing Assessments across the NWS supply chain, establishing a common approach to monitoring across the NWS business to maximise benefit of data analysis and minimise duplication of effort.
  • Coordinate and support the creation of risk mitigation and contingency plans for suppliers where applicable.
  • Support the implementation of local and government policies with the Supply Chain
  • Establish and maintain filing and records structures that integrate with procurement, contract, risk, and reporting management systems, with due consideration of sensitive information.
Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems
  • Skilled at use of Excel and managing a range of data – aware of risks of using excel and building in quality assurance checks and measures to increase confidence in using spreadsheet data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – able to present findings and justify conclusions.
  • Self-starter to identify risks or opportunities in role and propose action to mitigate risk or realise benefit.
  • Procurement, contracts, or commercial experience useful.
  • Experienced in reporting systems and communicating information to stakeholders.
  • Can understand different reasons for analysing data and limitations in generating conclusions and recommendation for management action.
  • Highly numerate
