Nuclear Waste Services has opportunity for a Waste Consultant to join our busy team flexible working from our offices at Pelham House, Calderbridge in Cumbria.

As part of this role will be to provide a range of waste and business consultancy services to both internal and external customers; contributing to the development and growth of the Expert Services and Support Team.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assessing technical waste information and providing waste management advice and guidance to both internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Facilitating workshops e.g., BAT, Optioneering, Strategy Development etc.
  • Managing technical service projects, (for example characterisation projects), including the monitoring and maintenance of scope, schedule and cost.
  • Lead on the development of expert and alternative treatment service opportunities working in conjunction with the Customer Team to identify and follow up new leads.
  • Ensure that the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System is fully maintained for all opportunities within area of responsibility.
  • Supporting the procurement of new and existing waste services, and the development of strategic opportunities where required through the production of technical service scopes, business cases, and change papers.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements and supporting change initiatives within the department and wider business.
  • Endeavour to keep abreast of developments in the global decommissioning and waste services sector and support the management of innovations to the NWS service offering.
  • Develop and sustain collaborative working relationship with all stakeholders including internal staff, service providers and customers.
  • Supporting Customer / Service Provider Audits as required.
  • Presenting on behalf of Waste Services at various forums, site visits, conferences etc (which may involve some travel as required).

  • Intelligent Customer for Waste Treatment Services (if identified as a requirement by the Expert Service and Support Lead).
  • Subject Matter Expert for Waste Treatment Services (if identified as a requirement by the Expert Service and Support Lead).
Experience Required

Essential

  • Graduate (min 2:2) in relevant discipline or equivalent, possession of appropriate professional qualification, and or extensive relevant experience.
  • Technical knowledge of decommissioning and radioactive waste management.
  • Demonstrable experience working with internal and external stakeholders to build effective relationships, manage expectations and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Waste Services, our customer base, and existing suite of waste services.
  • Awareness of relevant Waste Legislation and Policy for England, Wales and Scotland.
  • Experience in project management of consultancy projects.
  • Experience of planning, executing / facilitating stakeholder engagement activities (workshops, teleconferences, data gathering, etc) and analysing outputs and next steps.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce and present information to a high standard.
  • Pursues projects with energy, drive and a need to finish.
  • Confident with the ability to influence a range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of and ability to produce documents to ISO 9001 standard.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with Nuclear Waste Services Customers and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of transport and packaging of radioactive materials.
  • Knowledge of international radioactive waste management supply chain.
  • Project management experience of radioactive waste projects.
  • Radioactive Waste Advisor.
