Nuclear Waste Services Apprenticeship Programme

Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) Apprenticeship Programme offers a hands-on learning experience in the nuclear sector, surrounded by experienced professionals who can support you throughout your apprenticeship journey. As part of your apprenticeship, you would study a recognised qualification related specifically to your apprenticeship discipline and area of work.

NWS provide a structured apprenticeship scheme which helps apprentices settle into the workplace, understand NWS and develops apprentices professionally and personally. You would have a mentor delegated to you who would be responsible for your day-to-day activities whilst supporting and guiding you throughout your journey. You would also be provided with opportunities to network and work alongside current apprentices to help you along the way and provide guidance from there experience of apprenticeships. For your apprenticeship you will have dedicated  time to spend at college/online study for your specific qualification.

As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work from different sites including our offices in Cumbria, Harwell and at the Low-Level Waste Repository, which will give you an insight into the work we do with managing e low level waste and planning a Geological Disposal Facility.

The range of disciplines that NWS recruit for change on a yearly basis, dependant on what the business requirements and industry needs are. In previous years, some of the disciplines we have recruited include Scientific Nuclear, Project Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Business Admin and various other roles. Apprenticeships we typically recruit for range from Level 3 qualifications up to Level 6 degree apprenticeships.
